Neil is a fight director and certified teacher with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat. Originally he gained his degree in performance through Leeds University, but always longed to study stage combat. After graduating he organised a BADC event to run in York, which set him on his path to becoming a qualified teacher with the BADC.

Neil teaches stage combat at various Drama Schools, Universities and Institutions across the country including Leeds City College, Ackworth School, University of York, and Northern Stage, as well as running his own private stage combat courses in the North. He also works as a professional fight director for both theatre and film; notable credits include the multi-award winning ‘God’s Own Country’ (2016), ‘After the Blue’ (2016) at the Jermyn St. Theatre, and ‘Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune’ (2018) for Northern Stage.

In 2019 he became the Fight Consultant on the outdoor spectacular ‘Kynren’ at Bishop Auckland, an HE Lecturer at University Centre Leeds, and also took on the roles of Treasurer, and Website Officer on the BADC Committee.
