Rachel Bown-Williams

Rachel began Karate at 8 years of age. Whilst training as an actress at Rose Bruford College, she discovered Stage Combat and began her journey to becoming a BADC qualified teacher from there. 

 

Rachel is now a BADC Examiner. She served on the committee as Training Officer from 2009-15, whilst serving she designed and established the current Apprentice Training Programme. She is co Founder (With Ruth Cooper-Brown) of dramatic violence company Rc-Annie and works full time as a BADC Teacher and Fight Director for Theatre and Film. 

Fight Directing credits include: Boudica, Lions and Tigers, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night and Imogen for Shakespeare's Globe. Duchess of Malfi, Salome and Snow in Midsummer for the RSC. The Lion The Witch and Wardrobe, Barnbow Canaries and Richard the Third (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Peter Pan, The Threepenny Opera, The James Plays and Cleansed for the National Theatre. Woyzeck at the Old Vic and Lucia Di Lammermoor (Royal Opera House). 

 

She is a fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Foundation, which allowed her to travel extensively in the United States, meeting and working with many of America's foremost fight professionals. 

 

She regularly teaches for Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Florida State University and University Connecticut.
